At Rhythmix International Dance Studio, our mission is to create a fun and supportive environment where anyone can build the confidence to succeed through the art of dance. We focus on teaching proper dance technique and building strength in all dancers. Our goal is to foster growth and empower students to reach their maximum potential both on and off the stage.
Bachata
Bachata is a Latin dance form originated from the streets of Dominican Republic. Known for its signature Cuban-hip motion, Bachata consists of zesty, sensuous, yet simple dance steps, performed to romantic tunes, which showcases the chemistry between partners.
Bollywood
Bollywood Dance is the name given to the dance-form used in Indian (Hindi) films. The most energetic and colorful Indian dance forms are Bhangra and Garba (originated in the state of Gujarat, India). They merged with other dance forms from around the world, and now is the famous Bollywood dance.
Commercial Jazz
Commercial Jazz is Street Jazz techniques combined with Commercial Hip Hop.
An ideal class for those wanting a challenge, a great workout, improve their commercial dance style, and are looking to bring some sass and swagger into their dance repertoire.
Contemporary
In this class, you will learn an original choreography with the moves so you understand the movement. Designed for the beginner or open level student. This class will improve your technique and quality of movement. If you’re looking to move and dance until you sweat this class is for you.
Hip Hop
Hip-hop dance is a street dance style that developed as part of Hip-hop culture. Hip-hop culture is the embodiment of four important elements: Breaking, Rapping(MCing, Beatboxing), Graphite, and Djing. It started as an underground movement as a counter-culture against a very racist and discriminating society. Hip-hop dance evolved in the streets of The Bronx, New York, in the early 1970s, in the African American communities. The various styles associated with Hip-hop dance are Breaking, Locking, Popping, Old School, etc.
House
House dance is a freestyle street dance and social dance that has roots in the underground house music scene of Chicago and New York. It is typically danced to loud and bass-heavy electronic dance music provided by DJs in nightclubs or at raves.
Jazz
A high-energy class where you can have lots of fun learning a variety of jazz dance styles. In this class, we dance to a wide range of music including Pop, RnB, Hip-Hop, Broadway, and Old School tracks. Although with a traditional jazz foundation, the styles have various influences including funk, contemporary, and theatre. Come and learn techniques such as how to kick, turn and jump, plus find your own groove and work on fitness at the same time! Classes include a warm-up, some technique, and a routine to put your new moves into practice.
K-Pop
The K-Pop choreography often includes the so-called "point dance" referring to a dance made up of hooking and repetitive movements within the choreography that matches the characteristics of the lyrics of the song.
Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a dance style that embodies various aspects of ballet, jazz, acrobatics, and modern dance. According to Jennifer Fisher, lyrical dance is “strongly associated with clearly displayed emotional moods, fast-moving choreographic strategies, emphasis on virtuosic display, illustration of song lyrics, and, in group form, exact unison.” The style is usually danced at a faster pace than ballet but not as fast as jazz. Lyrical dance is a category typically found in dance competitions.
Locking
Locking is a style of funk dance, which is today also associated with hip hop. The name is based on the concept of locking movements, which basically means freezing from a fast movement and "locking" in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing at the same speed as before.
Popping
Popping dance is a style of dance that started in the late 1960's and 70's. This dance style is characterized by sudden tensing and releasing of the muscles ("hitting") to the rhythm of beats in music.
Salsa
Salsa is a syncretic dance form with origins from Cuba as the meeting point of Spanish (European) and African cultures.Salsa is normally a partner dance, although there are recognized solo forms such as solo dancing "suelta" and "Rueda de Casino" where multiple couples exchange partners in a circle. Salsa can be improvised or performed with a set routine.
